Marking the end of the 12 days of Christmas, Eastern Christian churches celebrated Epiphany on 19 January. In Eastern tradition, the holiday celebrates the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the Jordan River, marking him as the son of God.  Pilgrims go to the site of the river, Qasr Al-Yahud in the West Bank in Occupied Palestine to recreate the baptism by immersing themselves in the river.
