The Hungarian government will finance 300 scholarships for Egyptian students during the 2014/2015 academic year, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.
The scholarships will cover graduate studies and training in various fields, such as agriculture, irrigation, renewable energy and health.
During the 2015/2016 academic year, Hungary will fund 100 scholarships.
The foreign affairs spokesman could not be reached for further comment.
These announcements followed the meeting of Ambassador Hatem Seif El-Nasr, the foreign minister of affairs’ assistant for the Europeans affairs of Hungary, with the Deputy State Secretary for Global Affairs at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Peter Wintermantel.
Seif El-Nasr also met with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Zsolt Semjén, who said Hungary fully supports Egypt and respects the Egyptian government’s commitment to implementing its roadmap.
In November, the Hungarian government agreed with the Egyptian Railways Authority, with the participation of Egyptian companies, to develop Hungarian manufactured trains. The trains are expected to begin serving Egyptian citizens by 2020.
Following this agreement, both countries agreed to exchange visits to follow up on the project and cooperate to increase safety, integrate modern technology, and raise the efficiency of the Egyptian railway network.
Egypt and Hungary already cooperate in the fields of vehicle production and construction materials, including ceramics, textiles, cosmetics and electric cables.
