Rap group “Art Revolution” was released Thursday on EGP 5,000 bail by Qasr Al-Nil Prosecution, according to a statement released on the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI).
Nine members of the group were arrested Tuesday in Downtown Cairo, during a rap session in Abdul Moneim Riad Square.
The members, almost all under the age of 21, were accused of chanting hostile phrases against the military and the police, according to a police report. They also faced accusations of organising a rally without prior notice, prohibited by the controversial Protest Law.
The Protest Law requires protesters to acquire approval from the police prior to staging a protest or any public gathering.
Last week Al-Fan Midan (Art is a Square) festival was restricted because it lacked the required security permits from the Abdeen police station.
