Two were killed and four injured following a bomb explosion close to Kafr Al-Sheikh stadium, according to Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.

The explosion targeted a vehicle carrying army cadets, leaving several of them amongst the casualties.

Military and security personnel have been targeted by militant groups in Egypt since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

On Tuesday, eight Improvised Explosive Devices (IED s) were placed under two electricity pylons in 6th of October City. The pylons provided power supplies to the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC), with the explosion temporarily cutting off electricity.

Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat ordered the National Security apparatus to investigate the incident.

Following the incident, the Interior Ministry announced the arrest of three “Ajnad Misr” members, a militant group that has been operating in Egypt for more than a year and a half.

In a recent development, the Interior Ministry noted Wednesday the arrest of 21 members and leaders of “Jond Ansar Allah”, a newly founded group allegedly affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood and allied with State of Sinai, formally Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis.

The ministry’s statement added that the group launched 38 militant attacks targeting banks, electricity pylons and post offices.
