Three people were killed and three others were injured Tuesday as a result of bomb explosion in 6th of October City on the outskirts of Giza, according to a preliminary report by the Ministry of Health.

The report said the explosion occurred inside a car.

The injured were admitted to hospital. Two were later released, while the third is still undergoing treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were transferred to the Zeinhom morgue to identify them, state-owned newspaper Al-Ahram reported.

The Ministry of Interior said that the casualties were militants who were planning to stage an attack. Local media reported that the explosion occurred close to a police station.

On Monday, a car bomb killed Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat. Since then, several attacks have occurred.

In Beni Suef governorate, south of Cairo, unidentified assailants shot dead a policeman and injured four conscripts on Tuesday early morning. In Al-Arish, North Sinai, a bomb killed three transport authority officials on Monday night, and another citizen died in a shooting the following day.

Furthermore, four citizens were injured when assailants shot at a microbus in a village near Qena, Upper Egypt.
