The number of mobile users during July declined by 0.8% compared to June. Indicators by the Ministry of Communications recorded a decline in the number of mobile users from 95 million users last June to 94.3 million users in July.
Spread of mobile phones hence dropped from 109.6% in June to 108.6% in July.
According to the telecommunications sector indicators report, the number of Internet users reached 32.2 million users in July, where mobile Internet accounted for the largest share by about 24.7 million users, an increase of 2.6% from June.
The number of mobile Internet users amounted to 26.2% of the total number of Internet users. On the other hand, USB modem users declined in July to 4.07 million users, versus 4.1 million users in June.
As for high-speed ADSL Internet users, the number of subscribers grew slightly in July to reach 3.6 million users from 3.5 million users in June.
Cairo acquired the largest share of Internet users with about 46%. The Delta came in second place with 26%, followed by Alexandria with 12%, while Upper Egypt and Sinai came in last with 10% and 6% respectively.
On the other hand, the number of landline subscribers continued to decline to reach 6.3 million users in July from 6.6 million users in June.
