Japanese cars brands in Egypt recorded sales estimated at about EGP 9.5bn in the first 10 months of 2015. This comes out of the approximately EGP 28bn in sales registered by the personal cars market in that period, constituting a market share of 34%.
Japanese brands were able to record 46,300 cars sold, out of the 163,700 cars sold in the market, making up 28% of the units sold in the personal car market in Egypt.
The Nissan New Sunny topped the list of the Japanese most sold cars in Egypt with sales of EGP 1.3bn and was able to sell 11,700 units between the beginning of 2015 and the end of October.
The Mitsubishi Lancer made sales estimated at EGP 1.06bn in the same period in second place with 7,073 sold units and Toyota Corolla in third place, which registered sales worth EGP 1.1bn, at 5,729 units sold.
