Huawei launches Y6C exclusively through Souq.com

CEO of Souq.com Omar Elsahy said that e-commerce has seen rapid, which prompted Huawei to launch its new Smartphone Y6C exclusively on Souq.com.

On the sidelines of the launch ceremony for Y6C, Elsahy said about 50% of mobile users are connected to the internet, of which 68% are from the youth demographic. About 12% of internet users in Egypt use e-commerce and the ratio is expected to increase to 50% by 2020.

Retail Sector Director at Huawei George Lee said the Y series aims to meet the needs of the middle class youth demographic and smart phones novices, who account for about 55% of consumers in the local market. He noted that the Y series costs EGP 1,200.

Huawei accounts for 12% of the low price smart phones market, while the company’s share of the market is over 12%, Lee said. The company sold over a million smart phones in 2015 but aims to increase sales to 3m devices in 2016.

Huawei officially launched the Y6C smart phone in the Egyptian market Monday in coordination with the e-commerce website, Souq.com.
