The Supreme Court of Cairo postponed Monday hearing head of the Central Auditing Organisation Hesham Geneina’s testimony in the case where he is charges with “insulting the judiciary”. Geneina failed to appear at the court, which will set a date for another session.

The lawsuit was filed by current Minister of Justice Ahmed Al Zanad, against Geneina, together with TV host Wael Ibrashy and Manager of Dream network Osama Ezz El-Din.

Geneina was interviewed by Ibrashy on the channel last November, where he made statements alleging corruption in the judiciary and the Judges’ Club, which was headed by Al-Zind at the time. Al-Zind considered Geneina’s allegations “insults to the judiciary”.

Both Ibrashy and Ezz El-Din testified on their own behalf in the case earlier this month and denied any responsibility for Geneina’s claims.

Geneina was come under fire lately following recent allegations that government corruption had resulted in the loss of EGP 600bn in state funds since he came in office in 2012.
