Annual inflation rate rises to 10.9% in April: CAPMAS

Egypt’s annual inflation rate increased to 10.9% in April 2016, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The agency said in its monthly report for inflation issued on Tuesday, that the annual consumer urban inflation index in April reached 182.6, registering an increase of 1.5% compared to March 2016.

The report noted that the rise in inflation was driven by the increased prices of vegetables by 3.1%, as well as grain, bread, and rice by 3.5%, poultry by 3%, fruits by 4.5%, and clothing by 4.4%. On the other hand, the price of eggs dropped by 7.2%.
