The number of members in the Chamber of Information and Technology (CIT) grew by 23% over the past three years and the number of companies reaches 980 companies, said chairperson Khalid Ibrahim.

The elections of the new board of the chamber will be in June.

The chamber’s strategy over the past three years has focused on three main directions: developing the domestic demand and opening internal markets, developing the Egyptian companies’ capacities through training, and opening new external markets through the Gosoor programme which provides export opportunities in Saudi Arabia and Morocco, Ibrahim said during the annual CIT conference.

Vice chairperson of the CIT, Hossam Al-Sammad, said the chamber is signing an agreement with Misr El Kheir Foundation to employ 300 disabled employees in the companies. The employees will be trained in different fields such as design and programming rather than solely depending on the call centre and customer service industries.
