Amr Adib on Tuesday signed a contract with ONtv, and is slated to join the channel in September to host its main programme. Negotiations over the contract lasted for two months, and it will remain in effect until 2020.
Daily News Egypt has learned that Ahmed Abou Hashima, chairperson of Al-Masryeen media, which owns ONtv, has agreed with Adib on an annual wage of EGP 11m, in addition to EGP 2m as a bonus for signing the contract.
Adib will receive about 15% of the revenues earned by the programme’s commercials, excluding taxes. The programme’s name has not yet been determined.
Adib refused any kind of “guardianship” from the administration of the channel or the advertising agent on the content of the programme. He also demanded that he be allowed to present the programme alone until it gradually develops.
The sources added that the location of the programme was built at a cost of EGP 5m, and Adib has the right to suggest any changes.
Presentation Sports, which owns the marketing rights for the Egyptian Premier League (EPL), announced that it sold the broadcasting rights of two consecutive seasons of EPL games to PromoMedia. It pointed out that the coming season will be broadcasted exclusively on ONtv.
Owner of Presentation Advertising Agency Ahmed Abou Hashima, executive director of Presentation Company Mohamed Kamel, legal advisors to Presentation Company Yasser Fathi and Hani Naguib, and Adib had travelled to a Saint-Tropez resort to sign the contracts with Naguib Sawiris, chairperson of PromoMedia. Sawiris had invited them to sign the contract on board a private plane in the French resort.
