The death toll of the capsized migrant boat in Rashid reached 148 on Friday, as the retrieval of passenger bodies continues, according to Beheira governorate spokesperson Wahdan Al-Sayed.
The boat sunk on Wednesday in the Mediterranean Sea near the Rashid coast in Beheira governorate.
Rescue operations are still ongoing.
The boat was heading to Italy, carrying around 300 to 600 migrant from various nationalities. The armed forces had rescued 164 people, including 117 Egyptians. Females and children were among the victims.
