In three years, I want to play for Barcelona, says Zidan

CAIRO: Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan has been named German Bundesliga Player of the Month in a poll carried out by German sports daily Kicker, DSF channel and the Bundesliga organizing committee.

The 25-year-old won over 50 percent of the votes for the immediate impact he made at his new club Mainz since moving from Werder Bremen during the January transfer window.

Mainz manager Jurgen Klopp believes the former FC Midtjylland is yet to produce his best.

The boy can still do more, Klopp told Kicker on Thursday.

Zidan scored six goals in five games for Mainz so far this season, taking the club away from the relegation zone to the 10th position in the league table.

Zidan, who had a loan spell at Mainz last season, joined Bremen for a fee of $3.9 million; the club s biggest ever signing.

He will be out to repay voters when Alemania Aachen host Mainz in a league game on Sunday.

Zidan has revealed on Wednesday that his dream was to join a top European club like Barcelona.

“I want to play in one of the biggest leagues in the world, Zidan told German sports magazine Die Bild.

“My dream would be to play for a team like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Chelsea after 3 or 4 years, the 25-year-old added.

Zidan said that he owed his great form to coach Jurgen Klopp.

“Klopp is like my father, my friend and my mentor, said Zidan. “He treats me very well; no coach has ever treated me this good.
