CAIRO: Hussein Ali has decided to extend his contract with Petrojet after the club denied him the chance to join either Ahly or Zamalek.

Ahly were competing with arch-rivals Zamalek for the signature of the talented midfielder, but Petrojet were not willing to give up the player.

Reports had claimed that the 26-year-old has already signed a contract with Zamalek despite the fact that Petrojet are yet to agree a deal with any party.

The wealthy Petroleum club wanted Ali, whose contract runs out next season, to be part of a swap deal if they are to let him depart.

Ahly and Zamalek refused to sell any of their players to sign Ali, and consequently, Petrojet decided to hold onto the player.

We were not obliged to sell Ali because we don t need money, a club source told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.

If Ahly and Zamalek really want to acquire his services they should be open to exchange deals.

Petrojet targeted Ahly striker Ahmed Belal but the Egyptian champions turned down their request.

Ali himself has committed his future with Petrojet as he believes there is no way to persuade Petrojet to sell him.

He is also worried that he could suffer dire consequences if he refused to extend his deal with Petrojet.

I may not play next season if I opted against extending my stay with Petrojet, Ali told FilGoal.com.
