CAIRO: Police Union thrashed Olympic 3-0 on Monday, to jump five places in the Egyptian Premier League table.

Mohamed Yehia volleyed in the opener after just three minutes, before Mohamed Nagib added the second with a header five minutes later.

The early lead was enough to end the contest, but Yehia netted his second of the game three minutes from time, capitalizing on a defensive error by Ahly-bound Ateya Al-Belkasi.

Police made the top half of the table in eighth place with 26 points, whereas strugglers Olympic remain second from bottom with 17.

Earlier on Monday, leaders Ahly secured a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Asyut Petroleum, and Ghazl Mahalla drew 0-0 with Gaish.

The day s results come against Zamalek s favor as the Cairo giants went further down in the table, lying 12th with 24 points.

Zamalek have to beat title contenders ENPPI on Tuesday in an attempt to return to the top 10.
