CAIRO: Angola has decided to pay the costs of Gilberto s treatment after the midfielder threatened to end his international career.

The left-winger suffered an Achilles tendon injury during an African Cup of Nations warm-up between Angola and Morocco, the injury which sidelined him for over a year.

Al Ahly has paid for the treatment as the 24-year-old had to undergo two operations in Germany and Portugal.

Gilberto said he would not play for Angola again if the Palancas Negras do not pay the money to Al Ahly.

Angola Football Federation Secretary General Augusto Silva confirmed the Southwest African country would pay the costs.

We expect the final cost which is not yet confirmed and once his club has given us the bill we will settle, he was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
