CAIRO: Zamalek technical staff has demanded that Amr Zaki be interrogated for missing the team s trip to Abidjan to face Africa Sports in the Champions League.
We want to know whether Zaki did not come with us due to injury or because he missed the flight like some reports suggested, a source in the technical staff told FilGoal.com.
The interrogation will help us take the appropriate decision over this matter, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added.
The Egypt striker was included in Zamalek s 20-man squad for Africa Sports game in the second-leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32.
He did not travel with his teammates, fuelling speculation that he may have intentionally skipped the game for an unknown reason.
Zaki s agent Mohamed Saied told FilGoal.com recently that his client will miss the game through injury.
He also insisted that Zamalek doctor Abdullah George is aware of the whole situation.
Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas denied rumors indicating that the club have punished their combative frontman, insisting that the Cairo giants are yet to take any decision.
Zamalek will be looking to defend their two-goal advantage when they play Africa Sports on Sunday.
