CAIRO: Ahly have officially concluded the signing of Smouha left-back Wael Shafik, the club s marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi told FilGoal.com.

While Al-Qaeyi refused to disclose the deal s worth, Smouha president Mohamed Farag Amer told the second division club s official website that the player was sold for LE 1.75 million.

Amer added that Zamalek were also interested in signing the player, which forced Ahly to snap up the player from under the White Knights nose.

Shafik has impressed for Smouha since he joined the club from Nabroh in the summer for LE 250,000.

Ahly are looking to add new left-sided players, especially with the news that Angolan midfielder Felisberto “Gilberto Amaral, is nearing a move away from the Cairo club.

Shafik is Ahly s third signing for the coming season, after the Red Devils brought defenders Ateya Al-Belkasi and Mohamed Khalaf from Olympic and Nasr respectively.
