CAIRO: Portuguese coach Nelo Vingada said on Saturday that neither Ahly nor Ismaili made official contact with him regarding their vacant managerial seats.
No invitations were made for me, I m coming to Egypt for vacation, Vingada told Al-Hayat TV.
Some people talked to me about the Ahly job, but nothing is official yet. I can t speak about anything unofficial.
Vingada has been heavily linked with a move to Ahly to succeed his compatriot Manuel Jose, who left the Red Devils after leading them to a host of local and continental titles during the past five years.
Ismaili is also believed to be keeping tabs on the 56-year-old after opting not to extend the contract of Brazilian coach Ricardo.
Vingada led Zamalek to their last league title in 2004. He also had a spell in charge of Egypt s Olympic team, but it was not so successful.
The former Jordan coach s experience in the region might tempt Ismaili and Ahly to offer him the chance to work in Egypt again.
Egypt is like my second home, Vingada concluded.
