CAIRO: Egypt have moved up two spots in the monthly FIFA ranking for national teams, following the Confederations Cup in South Africa as winners Brazil reached the top.

The African champions, who beat Italy and lost to Brazil and USA last month, are now in 38th place.

Ivory Coast jumped 20 places to lie 18th and lead African teams, following two wins in the World Cup qualifiers in June.

Egypt s qualifying rivals Algeria have also made great progress as they jumped 19 spots to go 47th after beating Egypt and Zambia.

The major change in the top 10 saw Brazil snatch top spot from Spain for the first time this year, following its triumph in South Africa.
