CAIRO: Ismaili chairman Nasr Aboul-Hassan conceded that his side will probably be forced to sell influential defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil to ease their financial worries.
We will use the money we will get from Abdel-Fadil s transfer to renew the contracts of some players as well as fulfilling the costs of the team s pre-season camp, Aboul-Hassan told reporters on Wednesday.
The combative defender is subject of interest from Cairo duo Ahli and Zamalek.
The central defender, who can also play as a right-back, initially expressed his desire to join Zamalek but later said he was willing to stay at Ismaili.
Abdel-Fadil will soon leave the club, Aboul-Hassan admitted despite making an earlier attempt to keep hold of the 26-year-old.
Zamalek could now be in pole position to land Abdel-Fadil while Ahly may reignite their interest in signing him.
Ismaili, who finished as runners-up in the Egyptian Premier League last season, will seemingly have to rely on some of their impressive youngsters next season.
The Dervishes, who struggle to generate revenues, failed to hold onto many of their stars during the past few years, including Egyptian internationals Hosni Abd-Rabou and Sayed Moawad.
But their youth academy aided them on numerous occasions, promoting the likes of Ahmed Khairi and Mohab Saied to Ismaili s first team.
