CAIRO: Mohamed Barakat refuted on Saturday reports indicating that he would not prolong his Ahly stay unless he received LE 3 million per season.
The versatile midfielder s talks with Ahly to pen a three-year contract extension have stalled due to his salary demands, local reports had suggested.
I did not discuss anything with the club regarding a contract extension, Barakat told Ahly s official website.
I did not set any conditions to pen a new deal. I m not worried about that matter because I still have a year to run on my contract.
Barakat, one of the backbones of an Ahly side that won a host of local and continental titles during the past five years, has been sidelined since the end of last season with a pelvic injury.
He is expected to make his long-awaited return from injury when the Red Devils face Police Union in the Egyptian Premier League next week.
I can t wait to play. I was hoping to play against Military Production in Thursday s friendly game but coach Hossam Al-Badri did not want to rush me back into action, Barakat added.
