CAIRO: Skipper Ahmed Al-Sayed committed on Wednesday his future to Ahly after reports said he was reluctant to sign a new deal.
The central defender s current contract will expire next summer but he said is adamant he will extend it.
I will not play for another club after the many years I spent here, Al-Sayed was quoted as saying on Ahly s official website.
I did not set any conditions to extend my stay. I have no reservations about penning a new deal.
Al-Sayed, a one-club man, follows in the footsteps of versatile midfielder Mohamed Barakat and striker Emad Meteb who also said they were not going to leave.
The 28-year-old wore the captain s armband following the departure of defender Shadi Mohamed to Ittihad in the close season.
He missed Ahly s first three games in the Egyptian Premier League after putting on a lackluster display in the 2-0 Super Cup defeat to Harras Hodoud before being sent off in the season curtain-raiser.
Newly-arrived defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil was coach Hossam Al-Badri s preferred option alongside Egyptian international Wael Gomaa in the heart of Ahly s defense during the past few games.
