CAIRO: Egypt are looking to arrange friendly game before meeting Zambia in their next World Cup qualifier on October 10, assistant coach Shawki Gharib said on Sunday.
We want to play a friendly during the Egyptian Premier League break, Gharib told FilGoal.com.
The league will be halted from September 23 to October 19 when Egypt host the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The Pharaohs will have sufficient time to prepare for the crunch qualifier at Zambia as they aim to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
They kept alive their hopes with a precious 1-0 away victory over Rwanda on Saturday, thanks to a second-half strike from skipper Ahmed Hassan.
Egypt lie second in Group C with seven points, behind leaders Algeria on goal difference.
Algeria can regain their three-point lead if they beat Zambia, who have four points, at home later on Sunday.
Only the group winners will qualify for next year s South Africa finals.
