CAIRO: Gouna shot-stopper Sherif Ekrami is expected to take no part in Thursday s league match with leaders Petrojet, after picking up a minor knee injury in training.
FilGoal.com has learnt that the former Ahly goalie underwent medical tests, and an X-ray image showed that he s suffering a knee cartilage inflammation.
Ekrami, who joined Gouna from Dutch club Feyenoord in the close season, needs a four-day rest to recover from injury.
Either Essam Mahmoud or Abdou Shaban will deputize for the 26-year-old should he miss the game.
Gouna had earlier dealt a blow with the news that midfield duo Amr Samaka and Wael Riad will be out of action for six month, for sustaining similar cruciate ligament injuries.
The coastal side, who lie 14th in the Egyptian Premier League table with two points, are yet to record their first top-flight win.
