CAIRO: Ahly defender Ahmed Al-Sayed is close to signing a new deal at the Cairo outfit, according to football director Hadi Khashaba.

Skipper Al-Sayed, whose current contract runs out by the end of the season, has nearly reached an agreement with the Red Devils.

I sat down with him and he should pen a new deal as soon as possible, Khashaba told Ahly s official site.

Al-Sayed won t take much time to agree personal terms; he s one of our loyal homegrown players.

Ahly have also been seeking to extend Emad Meteb s stay, but the Egypt striker insinuated more than once that he would like to start a new adventure abroad.

Meteb s ongoing deal with the Egyptian champions expires in the close season. He s believed to be targeted by a number of European clubs.
