ALEXANDRIA: A consortium of U.S., Egyptian and Turkish companies has submitted the sole offer to operate the passenger terminal in the port of Alexandria, an official at the Alexandria Port Authority said on Tuesday. The official said the authority is studying the offer by the consortium, made up of U.S.-Norwegian Royal Caribbean , Egypt s Kadmar Travel, and Turkey s Ege Ports. Hatem El-Kadi, the chairman of Kadmar Travel, said the consortium had submitted its proposed business plans to the port authority, and was awaiting a response from the Ministry of Transport. El-Kadi said the consortium plans to market the terminal internationally, with Royal Caribbean, the second-largest cruise line in the world, making Alexandria a regular stop for its ships. The terms of the tender would grant the consortium a 20-year license to operate the passenger terminal. Reuters
