President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Sunday a delegation of the heads of major US-Jewish organisations

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Sunday a delegation of the heads of major US-Jewish organisations that are currently visiting Egypt. The meeting aimed to foster relations between the US and Egypt, according to a presidential statement.

Al-Sisi stressed that a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict will change the current state of the Middle East, as it will give hope of stability and the possibility of achieving peace. There should be a fair and permanent solution to the Palestinian people, Al-Sisi said. Similarly, the American Jewish Committee praised efforts aimed at bringing peace in the Middle East.

The meeting also discussed the efforts exerted by Egypt to counter terrorism and the general social, political, and economic condition of Egypt, in addition to Egypt’s visions to resolve the crises that the Middle East currently faces.

Recently, in December 2016, Al-Sisi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met with a delegation from the American Jewish Committee, where Al-Sisi asserted Egypt’s eagerness to enhance bilateral relations with the US during their meeting.

At that time, Al-Sisi said that Egypt is always in contact with different parties in the US in order to clarify the situation in the region. The president discussed terrorism and its implications, not only on Egypt and the Middle East, but on the entire international community.

Egyptian-American ties were strained under the administration of US president Barack Obama, particularly following the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi. However, the relations are expected to improve under the administration of US president-elect Donald Trump.
