Al-Assar, French defence minister discuss cooperation between Egypt and France

Egypt’s Minister of Military Production Mohamed Al-Assar met on Tuesday with French defence minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and his accompanying delegation at the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production. The meeting dealt with areas of joint cooperation between both countries.
During the meeting, Le Drian awarded Al-Assar the Legion of Honour (ranking commander), for his role in promoting the Egyptian-French relations. Al-Assar expressed his gratitude for being granted the award, stressing on the strength of the historic Egyptian-French relations.
He also emphasised the importance of the French role in supporting Egypt’s capacity to confront terrorism, which supports the stability of the region, as well as international peace and security.
He noted that the Ministry of Military Production aims to develop cooperation with French defence industries by establishing joint ventures in Egypt that would benefit from advanced French technology and the capacity of the Ministry of Military Production’s factories.
Al-Assar also called French companies and investors to visit the Ministry of Military Production’s companies to study the potential cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
