Overseas For Food Products aims to increase its exports by 20% in 2017 through expanding in foreign markets.

Chairperson of the company Walid Gamal said that exports amounted to $5m last year.

He added that the company exports agricultural products and peanuts, while it also imports other varieties of food products.

Gamal said that the Egyptian pound flotation decision in November 2016 raised the cost of contracts on all crops—where the price of green beans has increased from EGP 10,000 to EGP 20,000 per tonne.

He explained that the flotation impacted the cost of imports, although it was not negative on exports, since they benefited from the exchange rate.

He stressed on the company’s keenness on participating in foreign exhibitions in order to meet new clients.

Overseas For Food Products operates mainly in the exports of crops such as peas, dried lemon, and clover.

Gamal said that the company has distribution offices in several countries, including Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He pointed out that the company aims to export 20,000 tonnes of peanuts this season—especially as its price has increased and has been seeing more demand from Europe.

He called upon the authorities to facilitate the procedures of inspecting exports—as the long periods impact the quality of fresh products.

Overseas For Food Products was founded in 1995 and works to supply both the domestic and foreign markets.
