CAIRO: Four Egyptians who were trying to cross into the Gaza Strip through an underground tunnel were arrested on Saturday in the border town of Rafah, official media reported. Egyptian security forces arrested the four during a search operation in the border region with Gaza to prevent any smuggling or illegal passage, the official news agency MENA said. The operation followed the collapse yesterday of a (nearby) tunnel … in which one Palestinian was killed, it added. A Palestinian militant from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades group was killed early Friday by an explosion in a tunnel between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, a security source said. The man was with five other militants when the explosion happened. His faction, which is loosely affiliated to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Fatah party, accused Israel of carrying out an air raid targeting the tunnel. The Israeli military denied any involvement in the incident.
