Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received on Wednesday Egyptian Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal, who travelled to Saudi Arabia to attend bilateral meetings with officials of the Saudi Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura).

Abdel Aal flew to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday accompanied by a parliamentary delegation scheduled to hold a number of meetings with senior officials in Saudi Arabia.

The reception was attended by the Head of the Consultative Council Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Minister of State Musaed Al-Aiban, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar bin Obaid Madani.

Abdel Aal conveyed to Salman the greetings of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and also reviewed brotherly relations between both countries, and areas of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the parliamentary field.

The Egyptian delegation included Secretary General of Parliament Ahmed Saad El-Din, head of the parliamentary bloc Egyptian Support Coalition Mohamed Zaky Sadek, Head of Parliament’s Human Rights Committee Alaa Abed, and others.

The visit came in response to an invitation from the Head of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh to Abdel Aal and is not the first of its kind.

In October 2017, Abdel Aal and Al-Sheikh met on the sidelines of the 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which took place in Russia, and discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
