CAIRO: Harras Hodoud maintained their revival with a 1-1 draw away to Alexandria neighbors Ittihad in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.
The visitors took the lead through a goal from midfielder Abdul-Rahman Mohie after 12 minutes.
Ittihad s Hussein Fahmi struck home two minutes before the break to help his side secure a share of spoils.
Hodoud were tipped for a top-four finish for the second successive season after excelling last term, finishing fourth in the table and winning the Egyptian Cup.
They started the current season in a superb fashion, clinching the Super Cup title at the expense of Cairo giants Ahly.
However, they struggled to recapture that form in the league as a poor run of results prompted coach Tarek Al-Ashri, the architect of their rise to prominence, to consider handing in his resignation.
He eventually opted to remain at the helm to help Hodoud recover from a bad start to the season.
The military club s draw with Ittihad extended their unbeaten run to eight matches. They lie eighth in the league table with 33 points, ahead of ninth-placed Ittihad on goal difference.
Hodoud also reached the African Confederation Cup round of 16 after beating Ethiopian side Banks 6-1 on aggregate.
