Nahla Mokhtar, general manager of L’Oreal Egypt, said that L’Oreal invests about $800m annually in research to strengthen and empower this promising sector.

She added that the company is looking forward to graduate more distinguished female researchers to enrich the field of scientific research with superior models of female researchers who contribute to the presentation of ideas and innovative research projects, which will benefit communities and help in achieving comprehensive sustainable development.

This came on the sidelines of “She Can 2018” event that took place on 2 and 3 March at the AUC’s Greek Campus.

More than 2,000 visitors attended this event including businesswomen and women interested in the business sector.

The company’s participation was a confirmation of its continuous support to women, especially in terms of scientific research, through the L’Oreal-UNESCO Program for Women in Science.

A group of researchers within the L’Oreal-UNESCO Program for Women in Science attended a panel discussion highlighting the challenges they faced during their careers and stressing that despite the challenges that girls and women may face in achieving their dreams, the opportunity is still available for all to achieve their own success and excel in different fields.

L’Oreal-UNESCO Program for Women in Science aims to promote and empower women in science, because the world needs science and science needs women. The programme was launched in 1998 in cooperation with the UNESCO Foundation, whereby 2,820 researchers were recognised in more than 115 countries.
