JERUSALEM: An Israeli newspaper says one of its investigative reporters has returned to authorities the classified documents he had received from a military whistleblower.

The Haaretz daily reported on Tuesday that Uri Blau agreed to hand over the secret documents after his source waived her confidentiality.

The source, Anat Kamm, has been under house arrest since December for leaking documents she copied several years ago when she was a soldier. She has been charged with aggravated espionage.

Blau cited the material in a story accusing the military of killing Palestinian militants in violation of an Israeli Supreme Court ruling.

He has remained in London throughout the affair. Haaretz says his lawyers are negotiating his return to Israel.
