CAIRO: Mohamed Helmi succeeded Theo Buecker as Masri’s head coach after the German tactican was sacked on Tuesday.

The Port Said side decided to relieve Buecker of his duties after his men lost 3-1 to Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League on Monday.

The defeat left Masri in 12th place with 32 points, only three above the relegation zone, which prompted the firing of Buecker.

Buecker took charge of Masri in January and the coastal outfit were relatively consistent under his management, having lost only twice to Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek.

Masri won three matches and drew in eight games over the past few months.

Former Mansoura boss Helmi will be working with the same backroom boys who assisted Buecker.
