With global forecasts for the world’s e-gaming industry reaching $115bn by the end of 2018, the Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (CIT) announced the selection of two winning teams during the 4th Run Double Jump, organised by the Information Technology Institute (ITI), to join the second round of the Ibdaa incubator as part of its ambitious strategy to support entrepreneurship and start-up companies and to drive innovation and creativity among Egyptian talent.

This year, the number of participants reached 560, with a total of 40 independent games. Only 14 games were selected to participate in the exhibition. The jury, including Maged Farrag, the head of the electronic games group in the chamber, choose the second and third teams, namely Bird View Burger and Rhythm Attack VR. This is part of the CIT strategy that supports the future of innovation and entrepreneurship and provides a healthy environment for start-ups by providing all training, qualification, and advisory opportunities for the job market and boosting industry growth.

Waleed Gad, chairperson of the CIT, said that the Egyptian market enjoys a number of competitive factors, most notably the technical competencies and innovative human cadres capable of driving the development locomotive to promote society. He noted that they selected two of the winning teams to give them the chance for support by turning their ideas into start-ups that can compete locally, regionally, and globally, along with providing an integrated package of technical and financial means.

“We are aware of the importance of our role in keeping pace with the global changes and qualifying local companies in line with the new requirements by working to raise their abilities and draw the regional and global attention to their products. In this regard, we are keen to maximise the means of cooperation and integration with the great efforts of the ITI in the field of human resources and its constant pursuit of excellence and exploration of modern technological fields,” he added.

Egypt will host the Insomnia Gaming Festival, one of England’s largest gaming festivals, in October, while Insomnia Egypt Gaming Festival will be giving 20 teams of games developers a chance for free exhibition.
