Italy-Egypt meeting for sustainable development, green technologies: Italian Exhibition Group

Italy and Egypt are even closer, thanks to their common interest in sustainable development and green technologies.

This is confirmed by the ‘Business Forum on water, energy, waste and mobility’, an event organised for Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd  December by the Italian embassy in Cairo, in collaboration with Italian Exhibition Group’s Ecomondo, the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Egypt and the Italian Trade Agency.

Two days of b2b meetings that will make use of the expertise of Ecomondo, the leading circular and green economy expo in the Euro-Mediterranean area which is held every year at the Rimini Expo Centre simultaneously with Key Energy, the platform for renewable energies (the next edition will be at the Rimini expo hub from 5th  to 8th November 2019), both organised by the Italian Exhibition Group.

The ‘Business Forum on water, energy, waste and mobility ‘will be held on Sunday 2nd  and Monday 3rd of December at the Four Seasons Hotel at the Egyptian capital’s Nile Plaza.

On inauguration day, the programme of seminars and conferences will feature the participation of Giampaolo Cantini, Italian ambassador in Egypt, Ecomondo Group Brand Manager- Italian Exhibition Group Alessandra Astolfi, CEO of Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency Mohamed Salah, Councillor for Energy with Italy’s Foreign Ministry Sergio Garribba, Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar,  as well as speeches by qualified experts in the sector, including Professor Fabio Fava from the department of civil, chemical, environmental, and materials engineering at the University of Bologna.

Furthermore, at the event, there will be a delegation of qualified Italian companies from the green technology and renewable energy sectors. On both days, a series of one-to-one meetings are scheduled, where participants will be from a select group of top Egyptian buyers and suppliers.

On Sunday 2nd December, after the opening speeches, an in-depth session will be held on the issue of the treatment of water in circular economy, organised by Professor Francesco Fatone, as well as a member of the Ecomondo Technical Scientific committee, a coordinator of the EU ‘SMARTPlant’ Innovation Action project, and a key personality on international water system research scenarios.

On the other hand, the second panel will concentrate on sustainable transport, and will be moderated by Diego Gavagnin, creator of the Conferenza GNL project.

On Monday 3rd December, the business forum will open with the subject matter session focusing on renewable energy, moderated by Senior Project Manager of RES4MED Africa Angelo Guardo.  RES4MED Africa is an association which promotes large-scale development of renewable energy solutions in the southern Mediterranean area, as well as in African and sub-Saharan countries. This will be followed by a discussion panel on waste treatment, moderated by Professor Fabio Fava from the department of civil, chemical, environmental and materials engineering at the University of Bologna, chairperson of the Ecomondo Technical Scientific Committee, and engineer Federico Valentini of the Italian Biogas Consortium.
