The Minister of Tourism, Rania Al-Mashat, announced on Monday that she traveled to Russia to participate in the meeting of the 23rd session of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which is being held from 9 to 13 September in St Petersburg.
She will also participate by representing Egypt in the Moscow programme which is implemented within the framework of this session “Tourism Development in Cities”, which will be held from 14 to 15 September in Moscow.
The programme is organised by the UNWTO, and will focus on areas including policies and tools for sustainable tourism, tourism education, and training.
The minister asserted the importance of Egypt’s participation in such important international events to enhance cooperation between the ministry and major international organisations such as the UNWTO.
She referred to the reformulation and development of relations with international institutions, considered one of the key pillars of Egypt’s Tourism Reform Programme (E-TRP), which was launched by the ministry last November.
Al-Mashat stated that the meetings of the 23rd Session of the UNWTO is considered the most important international gathering of senior officials from the tourism industry and representatives of the private sector around the world.
The activities of the 23rd session of the UNWTO will include a high-level summit on “Innovation and Sustainable Development in Tourism”, to be attended by the minister of tourism as a speaker to discuss innovation, education, and artificial intelligence.
