The Supreme Executive Committee for the Egypt International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2021) has announced that the conference and exhibition’s fifth edition will take place from 31 May to 2 June 2021 in Cairo.
Under the slogan “North Africa and the Mediterranean: Meeting today’s energy needs”, the event will see the participation of several oil and energy ministers, leaders of major oil companies, and industry experts.
The event is expected to witness about 35,000 participants representing 80 countries. Over 500 exhibitors and 16 country pavilions will also participate in the accompanying exhibition, in addition to 27 local and international oil companies, 2,000 delegates and 300 speakers across 80 sessions.
The committee, which held a video conference meeting on Wednesday headed by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla, said that the conference’s timing comes following extensive evaluation of the current circumstances. With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ongoing, the timing provides international participants with safer travel opportunities, as well as an appropriate schedule for meeting and communicating.
El-Molla said that the EGYPS has developed significantly in terms of the number of participants and agreements that have been signed.
The minister added that this event serves as an excellent communication window between Egypt’s petroleum industry and the world.
The conference aims to shed light on and identify investment and partnership opportunities in the oil and gas sector, and Egypt’s position as one of the most important gas producers in the region. It also serves to highlight the pivotal role Egypt plays in gas and petroleum production and trading.
El-Molla added that Egypt has become the focus of international attention in recent years, due to the positive transformations and important economic reforms it has undertaken. These have encouraged and opened up new horizons for major petroleum industry players in terms of joint work and investment with the country.
For his part, Christopher Hudson, President of DMG Events which is organising the conference, expressed his happiness at hosting the fifth annual session of the exhibition.
He pointed out that this exhibition has been created as a review of the growing Egyptian market’s needs as one of the most important regional oil and gas industry players, and founder of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum.
