US architecture firm, JZMK Partners, has been awarded the design contract from Egypt’s Cleopatra Real Estate for the latter’s residential and leisure hotel project Smeralda in the North Coast. The Egyptian company has allocated EGP 6bn investments for the project.
During a press conference on Friday, Cleopatra Group Chairperson Mohamed Abou El Enein said, “Cleopatra aims to develop the Smeralda project as a residential and entertainment model with a US partnership, as a way of establishing a new way of life.”
He added, “Smeralda is located in a charming spot on the Mediterranean Sea coast in the Sidi Heneish region, which is classified as one of the 10 best beaches in the world.”
Abou El Enein added that construction work is ongoing at the project, as several construction phases have been completed on the hotel in preparation for its opening next summer. The hotel will fall under the Cleopatra Luxury Hotels and Resorts chain, with other hotels located in Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Alam.
JZMK was chosen after a competition between companies from the UK, Italy, the US, the UAE, and Egypt, to complete the comprehensive development phase of the project’s total area, he noted.
“Smeralda is the first of its kind to use 5G technology for cities in thought, design, energy use and technology,” Abou El Enein said, “The development targets those looking for a new lifestyle based on the latest modern systems that integrate between modernity of technology, luxury of residence, and humanity of the place.”
He added, “It suits all ages and young people who find an ample of privacy, tranquillity, and recreation.”
