Kayan Egypt, the exclusive agent for Skoda in Egypt, has unveiled the all-new 2021 model of the Octavia A8.
The new model comes with a set of distinct specifications for the sedan category in terms of dimensions, engine, safety, and design.
Skoda Egypt sales have witnessed a boom since the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, including the Skoda Kodiaq which has topped the list of best-selling cars in Egypt in the first half (H1) of 2020. This success comes despite the severe impacts of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis that has affected global car markets, and the commensurate slowdown in sales in general.
Kayan Egypt has also launched more than one model in the short period that elapsed after some precautionary measures were lifted, and life has gradually returned to normal for all Skoda branches, centres, and agents.
Karim Al-Naggar, Chairperson of Kayan Egypt, confirmed that the company has overcome the effects of the global health crisis, despite the challenges and despite the losses incurred by the Egyptian auto sector in general.
He added that although prices are expected to rise for the next year, the company provides all after-sales services, periodic maintenance and spare parts, without any noticeable increase for the year 2020.
External dimensions and engine
The Octavia A8 2021 is 4.7m long, 2.7m wide, and 1.5m high. With a rear bag capacity of 600 litres, the 2021 Skoda Octavia comes in three versions
The first release is the Octavia A8 Ambition. The new car comes with a TSI engine, a capacity of 1,400 cc, producing 150 horsepower, and a maximum torque of 250 NM. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The average fuel consumption is about 6.6 litres, when covering distances of up to 100 km, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in nine seconds.
The car features driver airbags with airbag deactivation, LED headlamps, and tail lights with daytime running lights, fog lights, 16-inch 202/60 R16 Velorum Sport wheels, and a Kessy Go “Start Engine”. It also features a SWING infotainment system with an 8.25-inch screen, alongside a Wireless Charger in addition to the Shift-by-wire system.
Also being released is the Second Edition of the Plus Octavia A8 Ambition, which has the same specifications as the first version in terms of engine, torque transmission, fuel consumption, and acceleration. The Plus Octavia A8 Ambition, however, features front side airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, and front and rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera.
It also features 17-inch Pulsar Aero wheels Bi-colour 205/55 R17, Full LED Matrix headlights with AFS function and Welcome Light, Full LED tail lights with animation and special lighting design, and ambient lighting package. This is in addition to the virtual cockpit of SKODA.
The third version to be released is the Octavia A8 RS, which comes with a 2,000 cc turbocharged TSL engine, producing 245 horsepower and a maximum torque of 370 NM. This is connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The average fuel consumption is about 6.6 litres, when travelling distances of up to 100 km. The front traction system brings the car from 0 to 100 km/h in a time period of 6.7 seconds.
It features a front side airbag with a curtain airbag and a centre airbag, an RS sport suspension system (-15 mm), a selectable drive mode including conventional shock absorbers, and 19-inch sporty alloy wheels Black Altair / Silver 225 / 40 R19.
The model also features RS front bumpers, black RS front grille with RS logo and black rear spoiler, in addition to the RS rear cockpit, Wireless SMART LINK + for Apple devices and wired for Android.
There are also light and rain sensors and a washable headlight with a washer fluid level indicator, and rear seat mechanically released.
Safety and protection
The Skoda Octavia A8 2021 comes supplied with a set of standard specifications, protective and/safety devices such as airbags , anti-lock brakes ABS, EBD electronic brake distribution, ESP, HAC Hill start assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
It also comes with a keyless electronic anti-theft system, child seat fittings, tire pressure monitoring system, and Smart parking, engine start/stop button system, and a panoramic sunroof. This is in addition to a rear camera, cruise control, and LED headlights, taillights and low beam lighting, which has a Matrix feature for the first time as it is in the headlamps.
Entertainment systems
The car’s entertainment systems are numerous, most notably the 8-inch touch screen equipped with the SWING SmartLink + “Apple Car Play and Android Auto” infotainment system with the Skoda audio package with 8 speakers.
There is also a Bluetooth system for displaying mobile applications on the display screen, and an audio distribution system, along with an AUX connection, SD memory card, USB with 5 ports, (2x) front USB, (2x) USB in the back located on the middle armrest, and a USB port in the rear view mirror.
Additionally to this, the model has a triple control air conditioning system, air care Air recirculation, humidity sensing and a multi-function steering wheel. This comes in addition to adjustable sport seats made of the finest materials with lumbar support.
Price
The price of the Ambition series is EGP 399,999, while the Ambition Plus version reaches EGP 449,999. The Octavia A8 RS is EGP 649,999. There is also a 3-year warranty or 100,000 km, whichever is closer to all versions.
