Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced that armed militants have attempted to forcefully enter its headquarters in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, on Monday.
Armed vehicles attempted to break into the outer fence of the company’s building, the NOC said in a statement.
The Petroleum Facilities Guard Force called for additional reinforcements from guards affiliated with the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior. The militants were expelled, without casualties recorded.
The NOC said that threats have previously been made against one of its senior officials that may be related to the incident.
A report has been referred to the office of the Attorney General to investigate the circumstances of the failed attack, according to local media in Libya.
