Kayan Egypt for Trade and Investment, the exclusive agent for Skoda in Egypt, organised a major celebration at ZED Park in Sheikh Zayed City, to mark the launch of its all-new Octavia A8 2021.
The new model has come with a distinguished set of specifications for the sedan category in terms of dimensions, engine, safety, and design.
The event was attended by: Axel Schroeder, Head of Sales in Asia and Overseas at Škoda Auto; Nader Nabil, General Manager of the Škoda Sector at Kayan Egypt; company officials and leaders; as well as the major distributors of Škoda in Egypt.
In his speech at the opening, Schroeder thanked Kayan Egypt, as well as the network of Škoda dealers in Egypt, for their outstanding performance in 2020, despite the challenges of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
He also expressed the company’s great pride and happiness in presenting the new generation of the flagship Škoda Octavia A8 model, which is also the brand’s long-term best-seller.
“The current global situation imposes constraints on different areas of business and the automotive sector, unfortunately, is no exception to these challenges,” Schroeder said, “However, in these difficult circumstances, we at Škoda Auto try to meet the needs of our customers around the world by constantly developing, improving and updating our offerings.”
Regarding the products and services, he added, “Skoda is still working on increasing the volume of its sales and market share this year in the Egyptian market, and is successfully moving towards reaching the sales target of 5,500 units, and increasing sales by more than 40% compared to last year.”
Schroeder added, “Our long-term ambition is to be among the three best-selling car brands in the Egyptian market, and not only in Egypt.”
He said that the company is working in steady steps to achieve its strategy across the entire North Africa region. This is also contributing to Skoda’s leadership role in the region North Africa within the Volkswagen Group.
“I am confident that this new responsibility will contribute to the further development of the Skoda brand and the Volkswagen Group in this very important region,” Schroeder said.
He announced the company’s intention to expand the network of agents further, to ensure closer proximity to customers, and provide them with a distinct experience by appointing four additional new agents in 2021.
Nabil expressed his happiness at presenting the new Skoda Octavia model, saying, “Today, we present to you the whole new generation of Skoda Octavia that has proven its efficiency over many years.”
He added, “In all parts of the world since the introduction of the first generation at the end of the last century, Octavia has been associated in the minds of Egyptians, in particular, with high quality and great reliability, as well as the highest levels of luxury and distinctive performance, which has made the Octavia a true legend in the Egyptian auto market.”
Nabil also said that Kayan Egypt offers the all-new Skoda Octavia, or Octavia A8, to the Egyptian market in three categories, namely: Ambition; Style; and the special and sportier RS category. The Octavia A8 comes with a completely new design language that is characterised by a bold and sporty character that is very attractive in all aspects.
The new car’s large dimensions provide the highest levels of comfort and spaciousness inside the cabin, which is more luxurious than ever, as it includes luxurious equipment not usually found in cars of the same class.
Depending on the selected category, there is a Wireless Charger, main and rear lights that work fully with Matrix LED lights, in addition to the automatic adjustment that can separate the temperature in two different areas using a Climatronic dual zone AC system. The model also has luxurious Alcantara leather on the seats and door panels, in addition to the RS Sport suspension system for the RS sport specifically, and many other exclusive equipment.
Nabil said that the first and second categories are equipped with a powerful 1.4-litre TSI engine generating 150-horsepower with 250 Nm of torque, linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h with this engine in 4 seconds, before registering a top speed of 223 km/h. The first category, Ambition, comes at a price of EGP 399,999, while the second category, Style, comes at a price of EGP 459,999.
