Ola El-Deeb, Director of Lenovo Egypt, which is responsible for the consumer and commercial sector in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, said that the coronavirus pandemic have significantly contributed to enhancing the company’s customer base in the Egyptian market.
Lenovo increased its market share in Egypt to 29.4% in the second quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2020/21, an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. The company had targeted 30% market share for the whole year.
El-Deeb added, during a virtual press conference, that the Egyptian market is one of the least affected by coronavirus, compared to Europe and some Asian markets.
Regarding Lenovo’s future plans in Egypt, El-Deeb said that the company seeks to expand in the near future in the Upper Egypt, Suez Canal and Port Said regions, due to the high demand for Lenovo’s various products, especially tablets and computers.
It is worth noting that Egypt is a strategic country and a promising market in the computer and software market. It is one of the top 4 countries statistically in terms of sales volume in the list of Middle East and African markets. Lenovo has a representative office in Egypt since 2010, and the company also works with 8 maintenance centres, besides 250 distribution channels.
Globally, Lenovo has a presence in 180 markets and more than 30 manufacturing sites around the world, in addition to having research and development centres in America, China, Japan, and Brazil.
