Gezira Art Center gives artists the space they need for exhibitions, and organises festivals, as well as international and local events
As part of the resumption of its artistic activities, the Gezira Art Center will host two art exhibitions of works by artists Nabil Wahba and Islam Zaki next Wednesday.
The Head of the centre’s Arts Sector, Khaled Sorour, will open Wahba’s exhibition at the Ahmed Sabry Hall, and Zaki’s exhibition at the Ragheb Ayyad Hall, at 19:00 on 24 February. The exhibitions are set to run until 11 March.
Wahba will present an exhibition entitled “Pages from the Conscience”, presenting his memories of certain situations and events that have contributed in building the artistic work.
Zaky will present an exhibition of 35 paintings entitled “The Trail”, about the effect of memories on people, with memories able to bring people together and shape their lives.
The Gezira Art Center has occupied an important position on the Cairo art scene in terms of the services it provides. It gives artists the space they need for exhibitions, and organises festivals, as well as international and local events.
It was inaugurated in February 1999, and after the development and modernisation of the building, the first and second floors, as well as the basement, were allocated according to the functional purposes of the centre and its internal architecture.
In the meantime, the centre’s outdoor theatre at the rear garden holds concerts, catwalk shows, cultural soirées, and theatrical performances.
