Telecom Egypt (TE) has launched its 4G voice calls service with VoLTE technology in the Egyptian telecom market.
The launch took place in cooperation with Ericsson in the main network, Nokia and Huawei in the available networks, and many major companies in the field of smartphone manufacturing.
The new technology provides customers with a high quality of voice calls in terms of voice purity and clarity, alongside a high level of flexibility for customers. It enables them to make calls and use data services via mobile phone to 4G technology at the same time, without affecting the speed of data transmission.
Voice call connections over 4G powered by Ericsson takes less than two seconds compared to 10 seconds on non-VOLTE networks.
TE also owns the latest network to provide 4G services in accordance with the latest international standards under GPP LTE Advanced3.
This includes Carrier Aggregation and Massive MIMO technologies, which enable it to provide the best possible quality and the fastest service to its customers with the network’s readiness to provide 5G technology in the future.
Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of TE, said that the company is the only telecom company in Egypt that has frequencies in the 700 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2600 MHz bands.
This combines the advantages of band diversity, as the 700 MHz band provides the best possible coverage as well as the MHz band 2600 super speeds.
Hamed said that the latest global systems for measuring the quality of customer experience on the network have been put into operation.
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has approved the use of 4G voice calls service with VoLTE technology in the Egyptian telecom market.
