A total of 40 companies have so far gotten the public tender offer prospectus for operating and managing two public passenger and cargo transport enterprises in Egypt.

Two tenders were announced by the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport (HCMLT), a subsidiary of Egypt’s Ministry of Public Enterprise Sector.

The tenders implement part of the ministry and HCMLT’s vision regarding the strategic development of activities and operation for the newly merged passenger and cargo transport companies.

Meanwhile, HCMLT has postponed the technical bids opening session for the two tenders, at the request of the companies that got the prospectus.

The bid evaluation in the passenger transport company tender will take place on 31 August 2021. The second tender for the cargo transport company will take place on 24 August 2021.

The HCMLT launched two tenders to manage and operate the transportation of passengers and goods on 11 June. It invited companies specialised in passenger transport and cargo transport, or an alliance of an investor partner and a company specialised in the field, to obtain a brochure of terms and specifications for each tender separately.

It set the value of the tender entry insurance at an amount of EGP 100,000 in cash or under an unconditional and irrevocable initial letter of guarantee valid for a period of three months, or by a bank check.
