The US Embassy in Libya said on Twitter, the meeting discussed developments in the Libyan security sector.
They also discussed how to make the elections scheduled for December 24 an important step towards Libya’s long-term stability under an elected national government and regional stability without foreign interference.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Embassy said that US military cooperation can “help Libya improve its ability to remove unexploded ordnance brought by foreign actors into Libya, and to continue to recover from the conflict.”
AFRICOM has held a meeting of military and civilian bomb technicians from all over the world, including two representatives from Libya, in the US state of Iowa “to exchange experiences in combating improvised explosive devices.”
Noteworthy, the USAFRICOM is a unit made up of unified combat forces under the administration of the US Department of Defense and is responsible for US military operations and military relations with the 53 African countries in Africa except for Egypt, which is within the scope of US Central Command.
